Kings in banishment

Dutch

Video preview

Belgian King Leopold III was taken by the Germans near the end of the Second World to Strobl in Austria. Because of his attitude towards the Germans during the Second World War, Leopold wasn't free of controversy in Belgium. Because of that reason, the Belgian chambers decided to name his brother Karel as prince regent. Leopold still remains in Austria and hasn't returned to his native country as yet. After the abdication of King Michael of Romania on 30 December 1947, the people's republic was declared. Michael left the country with his mother by train and headed to Switzerland to live in expulsion.
