Video preview

Row of people standing in line outside with buckets, bowls, bags and pans, alternated with footage of cooks and kitchen staff preparing stew in large kettles and mess tins. The acting mayor of The Hague, professor ir. C.L. van der Bilt, eats a few bites from a plate to taste the meal. After handing in their coupons the people in line receive their food in their own pans, buckets etc.; 00:00:42 Van der Bilt. During World War II the newsreels by film producers Polygoon and Profilti were controlled by the German occupiers. Polygoon and Profilti had to work together with the German film rental office Tobis. From January 1, 1941 the newsreels were therefore called Tobis News. Until the fall of 1944 newsreels under this name were produced alternately by Polygoon and Profilti.
